Bratislava is currently the capital city of Slovakia with the population around half a million. It lies on the River Danube hence it has the motto 'Beauty on the Danube'. It has a rich and diverse history and has been influenced by a variety of nations including Germans, Hungarians and other Slavic groups. It has been known by its contemporary name since 1919. It is also known by its German name 'Pressburg' and Hungarian name 'Pozsony'.
Last week, I spent a few days in Bratislava and I carried out a sign-hunting project which involved massive walks. The weather was fantastic so I had the chance to take many photos of a variety of things. This includes statues, buildings, small details of objects, bridges and graffiti of course. I also visited two of Bratislava's most notable landmarks: the castle and the UFO-saucer-shaped outlook tower (I did not go up in the tower though).
The old town of the city is beautiful but tiny so everything is in walkable distance. During my two-day stay, I successfully managed to capture Bratislava as diversely as possible. Well, at least this is what I hope, so have a look at my photos and discover the capital of Slovakia through them. Enjoy!
