I guess the only reason I have never really made a blog post with lots of photos of Shrewsbury is because I have way too many pictures and I have never really had the motivation to go through all of them and select my favourite ones. One can always be a bit overwhelmed by the place they live in. Today I have changed my mind though and, even if I often wanted to give up the whole thing, eventually I pushed myself and got a decent number of photos selected for this post.
As you will see, it is not really a themed selection. Not at all. These photos here were taken between 2014 and 2018, during the last four-five years, so they are very contrasting; there are massive style and colour differences due to the times they were individually captured. Saying all this, however, a couple of years ago, I had a project called Shrewsbury in details and I have never really done anything with those photos. Today is a great day to share them with you, so overall, there is the main flow to these images: they are all about Shrewsbury "in details", so there is some sort of theme then. You will see.
Since the photos were taken at different times and at random locations, it was a little bit difficult to find a way to put the photos in a certain line. Eventually, I settled with the idea that I would present these photos to you as they were here to assist you on a discovery walk, so I started the "trail" at the railway station. From here then I show you around the area: you will see details of the prison, the Dana bridge (which is actually not meant for public access, but I bet you did not know that, did you?), the Dana path, Castle gates, the library, Raven Meadows, the Archives, town centre and Pride Hill, Market Hall, Mardol, Rowley's House, the Square, Bear Steps, St Mary's church, Smithfield road along the River Severn, Frankwell, then back in the Square, Wyle Cop, Abbey Foregate, and then a walk along the River Severn.
Enjoy these photos, though come back time to time as I will be keeping the post updated with new photos.
